Rebuilding Our
Community Together
We hope to connect hearts, transform lives and restore a sense of dignity for everyone

Our Core Initiative
Rebuilding a roof on every home.
The Rooftop Project
Our work is just beginning. Rebuilding Jamaica will take time and tremendous resources.
aHere’s what is known — as of current public reporting — about how many roofs (or buildings) got damaged in Jamaica from Hurricane Melissa:
-
According to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management more than 140,000 roofs were ripped off.
-
Dozens of households in are living under tarps, makeshift coverings, or completely open skies. Many are elderly, single parents, or families with young children. Their homes—places meant to provide safety and security—are now uninhabitable.
This initiative will provide:
-
Roofing materials (zinc sheets, lumber, fasteners)
-
Skilled labor from local builders and volunteers
-
Emergency waterproofing and structural reinforcement
-
Priority support for the most vulnerable families who cannot rebuild on their own
-
Help to meet the needs of the infirm and the elderly population

Connecting Hearts and Helping Hands
Jamaicans globally. Friends of Jamaica. Coming together to rebuild communities.
We will chronicle our rebuilding initiative here, one roof at a time and one story at a time. With the help of our volunteer team on the ground, we will journey to the obvious and also the far to reach areas where hope fades quickly and families are reconciled to making do with what they have. The Rooftop Project ignores status and our mission is to rebuild a roof on every home, prioritizing low income communities, families with children and the elderly population.
